These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Georgii Shilovskii, an individual developer ("we", "us", "our"), the developer of the Filmeter application ("Filmeter" or the "App"), contactable at support@shilovskii.dev.
By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Filmeter.
Filmeter is a native iPhone light meter for film photography, distributed through the App Store. It runs locally on your device — no accounts, no servers, no telemetry. Reflected and Sunny-16 metering, EV and exposure pairs, calibration, one film profile, and the roll logbook are free. "Pro" features (incident metering, the Zone System, reciprocity, filter & bellows factors, CSV export, and unlimited film profiles) unlock via a Monthly or Yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase, priced in the App Store and billed by Apple. Filmeter is an estimate, not a laboratory instrument or a guarantee of correct exposure — your exposure decisions are always yours. All your data lives on your device; we never receive it and cannot recover it.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the current version. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Filmeter on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with the App Store Usage Rules and these Terms. You may not redistribute, sublicence, rent, lease, or resell Filmeter, nor remove any proprietary notices from it.
Filmeter is an estimate, not a laboratory instrument or a guarantee of correct exposure. Readings depend on your device's camera and sensor, on calibration, and on scene conditions, and can be wrong. The incident mode ships as an experimental beta with no accuracy claim.
You are solely responsible for your exposure decisions; always cross-check important exposures against a trusted meter and your own judgment. Do not rely on Filmeter where a certified instrument is required. The in-app screens display this "estimate, not a lab instrument" disclaimer.
You are responsible for using Filmeter lawfully and for not relying on it where a certified instrument is required.
Filmeter stores everything it handles locally on your device. We do not collect, receive, or have access to any of it. You are responsible for your own backups and for any consequences of data loss. We provide no recovery mechanism for data lost to device loss, disk failure, software bugs, or your own deletions. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
You agree not to (a) reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble Filmeter except as permitted by applicable law or the App Store EULA, (b) circumvent any technical mechanism that gates Pro features, or (c) use Filmeter to violate any law or any person's rights.
Filmeter, its source code, branding, and documentation are owned by us and protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. Filmeter uses Apple's frameworks only and bundles no third-party SDKs. The photometry equations it implements are facts, industry constants are public values, and its reciprocity math uses the generic Schwarzschild law — no proprietary film-manufacturer tables are reproduced.
If you send us questions, feedback, suggestions, or bug reports, you agree that we may use them without obligation, attribution, or compensation, for the purpose of operating and improving Filmeter.
We may release updates that add, modify, or remove features. We currently target iOS 26.5 and later; some changes may affect older iOS compatibility. Updates ship through the App Store.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that any reading will be accurate or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR RUINED PHOTOGRAPHS OR FILM, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF FILMETER, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (THROUGH APPLE) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
You may stop using Filmeter and cancel any active subscription at any time. We may terminate or suspend access if you materially breach these Terms or where required by law. Sections 3 through 10 survive termination.
You and we acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and us only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We — not Apple — are solely responsible for Filmeter and its content. To the extent these Terms grant rights or remedies inconsistent with the App Store Terms of Service, the App Store Terms control.
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance of these Terms, will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to Filmeter. Any claim relating to Filmeter's failure to conform to any applicable warranty may be directed to Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (where applicable). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Filmeter.
You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. government embargo, and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Mexican States (Estados Unidos Mexicanos), without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The competent courts of Mérida, Yucatán, México shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under these Terms.
Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the jurisdiction in which you habitually reside.
We may update these Terms; the Last updated date above will reflect the current version. For questions about these Terms, complaints about the App, or any other inquiry, please contact us:
